m . m .

i realize marilyn is done and done. and it's such a cliche for me to blog on her, but i just couldn't help myself. my sweet roommate gave me the latest book on the icon for my birthday back in december (after a few subtle hints) called fragments and after reading through it, my admiration is stronger than ever for the beauty. the book is a collection of "poems, intimate notes, and letters" which provides a completely new depiction of who this lady was. her vulnerability, insecurity, and sadness seeps through on each page in her suicidal scribblings which can make parts hard to read, but still i'm stunned at the depth she had. her intellect, often understated, shines through and i'm left with a newfound respect for norma jeane.

babe walker. ok, so she is the reason i still get on twitter. i'm obsessed!! the bitch cracks me up & i say a prayer each day that we will one day become bff's. of course, she's ridiculously offensive, but it's all in fun, right? a few of the reasons she makes me giggle:

never speaker to me again, unless it's to ask if i've lost weight.

your outfit just made me puke, but at least i won't have to workout today.

this rain is making me look like i go to community college

oh, and love this.

im off to tuscaloosa for a wedding weekend and to see my very best friends who will also be in town. oh, and last night was the grace potter show, and i realized i forgot my camera once we were in line to get in- so no pictures of her gold disco ball dress. it was a lot of fun because the girl rocks and her voice is killer. anyway, time to get on the road - have a good one!

p r o f i l i n g : m r s . l i l i e n

i've been following this fabulous lady's blog for awhile now, but after investigating her a bit more, i'm even more intrigued with this san diego stylist. each day when i bring up her page, i'm delighted to see the fun color palettes she's chosen for her post. instantly, i'm in a better mood! being more of  a neutral person myself - i admit, normally i would be slightly annoyed with someone who throws together as many bright hues as she does, but this chick pulls it off. and, yes, occasionally she even inspires me to get a little bit more colorful. obviously, mrs. lilien doesn't take life too seriously, and that's why i dig her.

i have this on my inspiration board at work and it makes me smile every time i look at it. the quote came from one of my favorites and i've had this dreamy little image for a while (i forget the source). love the effect that these two combined have. so pretty...

happy anniversary to my sweet parents! they are celebrating their 36th year of being married today and i couldn't be more proud! the two claim to have been in love since elementary school, so the fact that their relationship is as lovely as ever today is pretty amazing. they have set such an example for me with their marriage and i hope that one day, i too will pass that on to my kids.

adele. what can i say? i think she may be my soulmate. i love everything about this lovely, british lady. seriously- she can do no wrong. these photos were taken from a recording she did in her  wait for it... own apartment. it's beautifully simple and filled with interesting objects that look like they have stories for days. she's also singing my most favorite song off the new album (coming out tomorrow). to listen and see a glimpse inside her humble home, click here. ps. i got tickets to see her nashville show in june and im pumped.

m a r k e t s .

last thursday night, i had the great opportunity to attend the nashville antiques and garden show's preview party. each booth was so unique and offered so many one-of-a-kind treasures that i can only dream of buying one day. from jewelry to art to grand-scale furniture pieces this show had it all- seriously, i was so fortunate to see everything before the buying started.

because the event was set more as a cocktail party, i felt a little inappropriate snapping photos. i'm pretty bummed that i wasn't sneaky enough to get more, but above are a couple of glimpses into the show. some highlights of my night were the chambord vodka cocktails they were serving (of course), walking alongside sheryl crow at one point, and seeing the fabulous miss suzanne kasler prancing around the nashville convention center in her louboutins (she looked ferosh!).

ok, so back to business. this weekend, i made my way to the nashville tailgate antique show. it was a little bit more low-key (think: glorified flea market), but it was still fabulous. it's four buildings filled with all sorts of good stuff. the best part of going to things like this is making conversation with the vendors. they're all characters and filled with such passion for selling their items. this lady was a favorite:

what a model, huh?

on to the actual photos that you may be interested in...

sooo, it's been a busy couple of months, and admittedly my hair has been a tad neglected. but today is a new day! i'm spending the morning at my favorite little nashville salon and then it's off to the antique market in town.

oh, how i wish it were this much fun transitioning into the warmer season. watching the temperature rise and the days become longer from my desk is a bit of a drag. even so, it's nice just to look at these images and imagine a sunnier life right now. maybe next year, i'll have the funds to live this spring-inspired fantasy out. but, i'm not putting any money on it.

*(1.) no, my office doesn't actually look like this, but i wish it did. maybe if it did, i wouldn't want to leave.
**i actually do really, really love my job.

c o m e . t o . m y . w i n d o w

so, today was the prettiest sunset nashville has seen since 2010 as far as i'm concerned. driving home from work with this streaming onto my dash, i was a happy soul. i took these shots from my bedroom window, so glad it stayed long enough for me get home and enjoy for a minute.

so, this is my first post and i'm aware i skipped the whole introducing myself. basically all you need to know about me is that these kind of things (pretty colors saturating the sky) are what make me smile, so that's what i'll be blogging about. cool? ok, good. now, let's do the damn thing.

*oh, and please excuse these slightly blurry photos they were taken quickly from my iPhone- i'll do better next time
